Before you fill out an Adoption Application, consider the following:​

​Adoption radius: Our foster and adoption radius is within 150 miles of Jacksonville, FL, applicants from outside of that radius will not be considered.​

Application follow up: ​​Due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot commit to contacting every applicant. The best way to stay updated on a particular adoptable dog is to check our website and social media for their status. Thank you for your understanding.

Adoption application: Due to the length of the adoption application, we recommend filling it out on a computer instead of a mobile device.

Happy 25th Birthday, Arnold!! Arnold's birthday is January 1, 2000. Check out his birthday fundraiser, it's not every day a dog turns a quarter of a century! Arnold is a distinguished senior gentleman. His microchip listed him as lost in Aug 2023, Arnold was found a brought to Clay County in August 2024. His microchip puts him at 25 years old. He is in very good health with minimal age related medical issues. It is clear from Arnold's spunky personality that he was a treasured companion. He enjoys walks, naps, and loves being held and cuddled. Arnold gets along with other dogs of all sizes, doesn't seem to mind cats, and loves people - especially men! He loves to food, despite having no teeth, he will happily nosh his snacks. He was clearly given human food in the past and loves it when you share. Arnold is a miracle, his most recent blood work was excellent. He is in incredible shape for a dog that was lost for about a year. He does have some minor medical issues that we see in many older dogs. Arnold can see but has vision limitations due to cataracts. Arnold is good walker but the ligaments in his back legs have loosened with age and one of his knee caps occasionally slides. This means that he does need help going down stairs, however, Arnold is excellent at going up stairs. Arnold would love a family to call his own. He will happily nap while you're out of the house and will grumpily wear a belly band to prevent the rare accident.  He would flourish in an adult-only home, or one with dog-savvy older children. He has no problems with smaller children visiting him and enjoys gentle pets from people of all ages. Arnold can be an only dog, however, he does enjoy having canine friends. ​​

Harold is 10+ years old and 13lbs. He is heart worm negative and up to date on vaccines.

Harold is a handsome gentleman who has has had a tough go of it. During his vetting we discovered that he has pituitary-dependent Cushing's Syndrome that require medications for the rest of his life. He has a vet appointment on 1/21 to remove his cherry eye and take care of his dental work.​
Like any distinguished senior, Harold enjoys a relaxing daily schedule. If he keeps a schedule, he is very good with his house training habits and rarely has accidents. He is a very stylish dog and enjoys wearing his bow ties. Harold is somewhat unique in the way he communicates with his people. Instead of barking he will whine and if he is particularly passionate about something, he will scream. While it is somewhat cute, it is also incredibly startling the first few times you hear it. Harold enjoys a good nosh and loves his treats. He has a hearty appetite, which is what we want for senior dogs. If his new home has fur-siblings, he will need to be fed separately. He is such a good helper when it comes to cleaning the bowl that he will help finish his friend's food. Harold is very inquisitive and enjoys sniffing around his yard. He is not leash trained but will walk next to you if you go for a jaunt. He has luxating patella's which slow him down but make no mistake, does not stop him. However, it does mean that he cannot do stairs on his own. His ideal home would have a yard and one or more people that he could relax at home with. He would be the perfect companion for someone who works from home or is retired.

Welcome to Fawn's, Dusty! Dusty came to Fawn's because his owner is no longer able to care for him. Dusty is a very loving boy, and will follow you around the house. He loves to cuddle and enjoys being groomed. In his previous life, he lived with cats and guinea pigs. He is dog, cat, and kid friendly and enjoys folks from all walks of life.​​ Dusty is frisky for his age but he does have some arthritis and/or IVDD ( Intervertebral disc disease). He is on inflammatory medication to help manage his pain. This means he must be picked up gently and carried carefully. Young children must be supervised when near him so they do not hurt him. Dusty's ideal adopters would be a someone who works from home, is retired, or a family with dog savvy older children. Due to the nature of his medical conditions it would be best if young children were loving, gentle visitors and not constant companions.

Baby Girl is ready for adoption! She uses potty pads but isn't fully house trained. She loves to be held and cuddled. She adores car rides. She is good with other dogs.
Before she came to Fawn's SDR, Baby Girl was posted for free on CraigsList. The person explained that Baby Girl had no medical records and needed shots. Additionally, she has a mammary tumor and at the time, desperately needed to receive a flea treatment.​​​

Welcome Bella the Pom to Fawn's!​ She is 6lbs and about 7-8 years old. She has completed her vetting and is ready for her new family!
Bella is an independent lady with a sweet and sassy attitude. While she may not be a huge cuddler, she is an excellent companion. She is doing great with house training and does well with other dogs and cats.
Bella had quite the adventure before she came to Fawn's SDR. Bella's previous people shaved her. During a potty break, she slipped away from them and got lost!

Bella was later found and was mistaken for a different lost dog. The folks who found her, dropped her off in front of the house they believed she belonged to and drove off. Someone else saw this and believed Bella was being dumped.
​
Thankfully the person who saw Bella being incorrectly dropped off picked her up and took her to get scanned. Bella had a microchip but nobody picked up.
​
The good samaritan was going out of town and contacted Fawn's to help Bella. Fawn's was able to get in touch with the owners who opted to surrender her.​​

Biddy is a SPECIAL NEEDS dog! She is 3 years and 11lbs. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She is heart worm positive and receiving slow-kill treatment. Her adopter will be provided with the medication to continue her treatment.
Before she came to Fawn's Biddy spent most of her life outside. She is still working on house training, but making good progress.

Biddy is lovely lady who is skittish and shy. While she is timid, Biddy has good leash manners and loves other dogs. She is an excellent pack dog and gets a lot of confidence from having fur-siblings. They help her adapt and thrive in her environment. This will be a requirement for her adoption.
​
Biddy has started to jump onto the bed when she wants to cuddle. Despite this improvement, Biddy struggles with eye contact and will often walk away if you look at her. Biddy is an extreme flight risk and will need a secure fenced yard.
​
As a special needs dog, Biddy has specific requirements for her fur-ever home. She must go to a quiet home with patient people that understand skittish dogs. Her new home must have several dogs to help her feel safe.​

Lilly is a special needs dog! She is 2 years and 10 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and heart worm negative. Before she came to Fawn's she spent most of her life tied to a tree. She had one litter of three puppies that were also surrendered to and adopted from Fawn's. ​

Lilly is a sweet and beautiful girl, she is skittish and timid. She tends to hide between meals, though may come out for a treat. When she feels comfortable, she may join you on the couch for belly rubs. Lilly is a back of the back of the pack kind of dog.
​
We have seen that Lilly thrives with fur-siblings and adapts more quickly to her environment when she has confident dog friends helping her. Lilly is a flight risk and requires a secure fenced in yard.

Give a warm, snuggly Fawn's welcome to Dickens. Poor Mr Dickens, his mama passed away. He was found by one of her grandchildren in very sad condition. The poor buddy was matted and overgrown. Due to his condition, we arranged for him to meet us at the vet.
Dickens was such a brave boy at the vet! For his health, he received an sedated groom as a part of his appointment. During his visit we discovered that he is blind and in desperate need of dental. Additionally, he has skin, ear, and eye infections.
Despite his discomfort and conditions, he was a brave boy and never once growled or snarled at anyone.

Meet the sweet Dandelion. Dandelion has been doing an excellent job adjusting to her foster home. She loves people and cuddling on the couch. While she loves people snuggles, Dandelion is independent and indifferent to other dogs. She seems to enjoy not having to compete for her human's attention.

Dandelion is doing well with overnight crate training which is helping her house training. Like many dogs from hoarding situations, Dandelion is not house or leash trained. She is adjusting to going potty outside as she becomes more comfortable and confident in her new life.
